Operating Room...here we come

Maddox is scheduled for surgery Tuesday morning. Jeff is flying out here Monday night. Thank goodness. The thought of being here by myself, waiting for hours and hours and having to call Jeff back in Texas with updates is enough to make me go crazy. I'm very grateful we will be able to go through it together.

Maddox is holding steady. They are just trying to keep him calm and get him as many calories as he can handle to prepare him for surgery. This is going to be a difficult week, but hopefully once the surgery is done we will start on the road for home. We are praying the surgeon will be inspired, that Maddox's small body will be strong and handle the stress of such a long and challenging operation, and that he will heal and recover well. One of the difficult things we are dealing with is the uncertainty of how long he will be able to go without more surgery. Some of the things they will attempt to do will most likely be temporary fixes. His body will continue to grow and the parts and pieces they use will not necessarily last long or grow with him. It might only be 4 months before he has to go under the knife again.

We know that with the Lord all things are possible and if that if He wanted to heal Mad today without surgery, that He could. We know that because Maddox is here, and medically he really shouldn't be. We will continue to exercise our faith, that all will be well and that Maddox will indeed live a healthy normal life. It is sometimes difficult to choose to have faith in the face of statistics and data and the doctors' expertise, but we know who's running the show, and apparently He has a purpose for Maddox's life on the earth.

Please continue to pray for Maddox. His heart and ours are continually touched by the outpouring of love and concern for our family. I hope each of you know how grateful we are for the knowledge of the gospel, for the suffering of our Savior. I know that He has felt my pain and Maddox's. I know that He can heal all our hearts. We love you and will update after surgery on Tuesday.

  2. I'm glad Jeff is able to fly back out to be with you and Maddox. You truly are such an amazing woman. I am in awe of you with each post you write. Jeff needs to draw Wonder Woman (you) and hang it on Maddox's door! Love you and will be praying for everything to go well on Tuesday.

  3. My heart aches for what your going through. It's clear your testimony of faith amongst trials has grown ten-fold. I think of your family daily and pray always. I am so glad Jeff can be with you during this time, even if it's just for a little while. You are AMAZING and I hope and pray everything goes well Tuesday! Have you ever read Gifted Hands? It's an amazing true story! They've even made a movie of it. It's a short read if you're interested. Lots of love!

  7. My prayers are with you, especially today. Sunday in our Regional Conference here in Southern Utah, President Eyring spoke of recently giving a blessing to a beautiful baby girl (his son was this baby's daddy's mission companion) I couldn't help but think of you and your family as well. I hope it is okay, but I shared your blog with them and I am going to share their blog with you. Here is the link;http://babyabigailrose.blogspot.com
I am so touched and amazed at your faith and example. My love as well as that of my family are with all of you, especially today!
    With Love,
